DESIGN SPOTLIGHT: MINDY GAYER

We're continuing our Design Spotlight series with one of my absolute favorite interior designers, Mindy Gayer. Based in Costa Mesa, California, Mindy Gayer Design creates curated bespoke homes, designed for intentional and everyday living. Founder and Principle Designer, Mindy, draws inspiration from both world travels and local California living to design tailored spaces that are equal parts beautiful and livable.

We've been working with Mindy and her wonderful team for years, and are always in awe of how they use our hand-printed textiles, pillows, and wallpapers in projects. I sat down with Mindy to learn more about her design ethos, Caroline Cecil Textiles favorites, and reflections on the pandemic. Read on, and enjoy!
At Mindy Gayer Design, what is your design ethos?
I like to describe our design style as collected, casual, and wonderfully curated. Each project is very influenced by our clients and we work with them throughout the design process to ensure that the end result is a space they truly love to call home.
Mindy, Founder and Principle Designer of Mindy Gayer Design.
What are your favorite colors?
I love natural, earthy tones.
"KETUT has always been one of my favorite prints. I'm drawn to the scale of the pattern and it feels very signature Caroline Cecil."

What are some of the challenges you've faced during the pandemic? How do you think it has changed the interior design industry and how people view their homes?
The biggest thing I've taken away from the last year is to embrace flexibility. That encompasses flexibility with our projects, deadlines, plans to grow the business, and also flexibility within day to day life navigating running a team. I'm grateful we’ve all been learning how to embrace life differently this past year because I think it’s given us all a lot more grace to and for one another.

You used our newly launched KETUT / Black Oyster pillow and GAMAL / Black Natural pillows in a recent photoshoot. What do you most enjoy about each pillow?
KETUT has always been one of my favorite prints. I'm drawn to the scale of the pattern and it feels very signature Caroline Cecil! For the GAMAL pillow, I've always been a fan of a pattern play with stripes and dots. It really highlights the hand painted nature of Caroline Cecil Textiles.

What is your favorite fabric from our collection?
My current favorite is your KETUT / Black Oyster fabric.
