Recent Press: Our First Cover!

Our first cover story! We are so excited about making the cover of Uptown Magazine where Caroline discusses the past, present and future of Caroline Cecil Textiles.
This month marks Caroline’s one year anniversary of Arizona residency, which is perfect timing to celebrate a cover story from a local Phoenix magazine. Uptown Magazine features Arizona creatives, entrepreneurs and others who they find inspiring. We were honored to be their cover feature. Below we’ve shared a few highlights including what Caroline loves most about life in Arizona, what to watch out for when designing prints for the home and the CCT brand ethos.
As an artist and textile designer, inspiration is at the heart of Caroline’s creative process. From trips taken abroad, to researching historic textiles to nature - these moments often ignite a spark that could lead to new ideas. Since moving to Arizona the natural landscape has been a new and exciting source, “I have found so much beauty and inspiration in the desert and it’s wide open vistas.” Another source of motivation has been the community of designers and female entrepreneurs.
“I’m very lucky to have met several other amazing and inspiring female entrepreneurs since moving to Phoenix including Lexi Grace of Lexi Grace Design; blogger and podcast personality Mika Perry; Kimberly Fox from Evolve Skin Bar. Surround yourself with people who inspire you so that when you inevitably lack vision, they can help push you forward.”
Growing up watching and learning from her grandmother, a professional watercolorist, Caroline has been painting since she was little. To this day all of CCT’s prints begin as her original artwork which once scanned into the computer are worked into a repeating pattern and colorways. Composition, scale and color are deeply considered before reaching the production stage.
“A pattern must work in a range of applications, from a small pillow to floor-to-ceiling drapes to wallpaper running down a long hallway. No matter the application, the design must have a continuous visual flow so that your eye doesn’t get stuck on a repeating motif.”
When it comes to selecting materials and production methods for her namesake collection, since day one Caroline has been meticulous in sourcing collaborative partners and production processes that are of the highest quality. Always prioritizing sustainability and artisan production methods, the entire textile collection is hand printed in small batches onto the finest Belgian and Irish linen and linen/cotton blends. CCT’s newly launched wallpaper collection is Made in America by a fellow small business partner using eco-friendly papers.
Since 2014, Caroline Cecil Textiles has been contributing meaningful collections to the design community in an effort to bring an artful touch home. To read the full cover story go to Uptown Magazine’s website or their ISSUU page.
