Design Spotlight: Lindye Galloway

Design Spotlight: Lindye Galloway

Today on the blog we’re thrilled to be talking with Lindye Galloway, Owner & Designer of Lindye Galloway Interiors. Her coastal, clean look has been featured in HGTV, Domino, West Elm, Pottery Barn, and more. Please read along to learn more about how she uses CCT Ketut fabric and her unique design choices with texture and color to her projects.

“I consider my style Modern, Fresh & Approachable and try to stay true to this in all my projects. Although I'm not afraid to take risks!” - Lindye Galloway

What is your design philosophy?
I consider my style Modern, Fresh & Approachable and try to stay true to this in all my projects. Although I'm not afraid to take risks! Knowing your style is really important as a foundation for any interior designer but then not being afraid to see a vision and run with it is just as important!

I love your sensibility when it comes to incorporating layers of texture and color with textiles, art, and objects. What rules do you live by?
The only rule I live by is that there are no rules! Visually, I always want the design to be cohesive so I do play within complimentary color pallets but I'm never afraid to mix textures and colors if they integrate.

You have used our KETUT fabric in your Los Angeles Highrise (see below image). Walk us through the design process for these spaces, and your choice to use KETUT.
We chose to use the Caroline Cecil Textiles KETUT fabric in these designs because it was the perfect temperature of texture - not too loud but not too subtle either. I wanted something that would tie in seamlessly with a variety of color pallets and this neutral tone really did just that!

Your aesthetic feels pulled together yet welcoming and liveable. Can you share a bit about ways in which you prioritize making a space pretty and also functional?
Functionality is very important in all our spaces because at the end of the day, we are designing someone's home and it's important that we make it liveable for our clients! When planning the space, we start with the layout and functionality and build on the creative and decor after that has all been solidified.

How do you decide whether to paint a wall, wallpaper it, add shiplap or just leave it white?
This is a creative choice and depends on the preference of the client as well! Firstly, we take the entire layout and color pallet of the room into consideration and decide what choice would best compliment our current variety. Often, wallpaper is a nice touch to a lightly textured room to add a little more flair but if we're already working with a lot of noise in the design often a white or shiplap wall will be more complimentary.

What new projects do you have coming up? We'd love to hear about it!
We currently have two new construction projects on the waterfront (so exciting) and a handful of additional Southern California full residential remodels. 2019 is going to be a big year for us!

Way to use textiles in a master bedroom?
Pillows are the easiest way and add instant flair to any design!

Style of pillow (knife-edge, flange, self-welt, contrast piping, etc) and why?
It all depends on the overall style we are trying to accomplish, be it formal or casual or somewhere in between. But right now we're really loving knife-edge and flange.
